UDS delivers training in a choice of three formats:
1. UDS seminars
Our seminars are generally one-day events based on urban design topics (ranging from the general to the particular) held at venues throughout the UK and open to everyone. The mixture of delegates provides an open forum for discussion and learning, while also offering excellent networking opportunities.
Workshops, games, discussions and role-playing are used whenever appropriate to make courses memorable.
2. In-house training
UDS training is delivered in-house to private and public sector organisations. We offer tailored sessions to ensure we meet your specific needs. Our audiences can either be mixed or focused around a particular field. For example, council officers and members can be trained together or separately. We can work with you to determine what is likely to be best for your organisation.
3. Site-based training
Learning about best practice through site visits allows for a lasting impression and better understanding about the power of good design. Site visits take place throughout the UK, and abroad. Each tour relates to a particular design scale: village, town, small city and large city. Where possible, local leaders and designers take part in the site visit to offer local knowledge, sharing their experience of the positive and negative aspects of the design process.
Site visits are tailored to the specific group. Each visit begins with an overview of how to assess a place in terms of urban design. The visit is followed by a session investigating how the specific design and process can best relate to you. |
